Summer 2004 Journal
(I started this idea today, and would love everyone to email me bits and pieces they can "remember" from the summer). This will be a composite of our memories of beach times! Here we go! EMAIL ME YOUR ADDITIONS TO THE JOURNAL!

Week 1: May 27 to 31st Memorial Day Weekend 2004
Thursday: Not being able to wait for the holiday to begin, I grabbed everything I needed for the weekend, and took off on Thursday. (Well, everything I needed except for Lynn...someone has to work!) Anyway, Thursday was beautiful and I opened up the pool right on schedule. It was amazing to think that the weekend forecast was for sunshine.....never happen, but it did! Oh, what a weekend!
Friday:
Woke to beautiful sunshine, and Lynn pulling up in the driveway givng the official battle cry of the summer " Whooo Hooo - Let the games begin!!" Then I distinctly heard a cork pop!! It was a wonderful day at the beach, even though we never actually made it to the sand....lawn work. Jan and Sue soon showed up for the weekend! We arrived at the Taxi for cocktails after a wonderful dinner at DosLocos. WOW! The Taxi was full of women priming for the weekend. It was wonderful viewing, and lots of hugs and kisses as we met up with so many friends we had not seen since Labor Day! Everyone was in rare form as we sang and laughed throughout the evening! I do not remember all the antics, so email me your memories...mine were lost in the 3rd margarita...or 4th!
Saturday: Oh boy, up early, packed up the jeep, and off we went! Wonderful day, sunshine, a bit cool, but we all got lots of sun! It was so wonderful to sit around with everyone again and hear the voices of summer! Everyone was planning for the party at Monica and Emily's at Surf Avenue! What to drink, what to bring to eat, what to wear! OH my the decisions we must make! The party was very fun, and some of the memories are a little blurry! Patti cooking....the food! Elizabeth dancing the "patti". Remy ...doing a "tummy" rub....Mosh....dancing with Remy after tummy rub...... the police fingerprinting the bike rider for cycling without a light.....looking inside from the porch window.....ending at Lyn and Elizabeth's ...more cocktails...surprise..surprise!
Sunday: Lynn jumped up and starting making the tubs of mosias and bloody mary's! Tilted to the beach by 10:30. Everyone was ready for a cocktail, and somehow we all forgot to eat lunch! Lynn said I had diaper butt....from just letting myself fall to the sand...I am sure this was not pretty...most of the day is quite fuzzy to me, but I do remember everyone getting a new name...Stage names....Cortney, Jack, Tawanda, Kitty, Kitty Jr., Polly, Ester, Sara, Dotty, and many more. After the beach it was off to Ladies Tea at RudderTown. Great Tea, lots of people, dancing, laughing, oh yes and drinking! Susan said she had never been picked up in a bar, so Jan took up the opportunity to literlly "pick up her girl"! Very funny! So now Susan you can cross that one off your list! Our house ended up at Lyn's for the traditional after tea fabulous dinner cooked by the "boys"! Incredible!
Monday: Rain, bummer. But it was Memorial Day, and it was the expected rainy cold day. Seems everyone hunkered down, and stayed in. We missed saying goodbye to everyone, but we managed to get toasted on Mimosa's all by our lonesomes. From what I hear we were not the only ones! The weekend ended too quickly and everyone headed home.

Week 2: June 4, 5, 6
Friday: Town was quiet. Race weekend---lots of baseball hats, and numbered jackets. Dinner, and off to the Taxi. Met up with Stik, Remy, Sue, and drank a few more margaritas. Where was everyone???
Saturday: Belmont Stakes, Race Day! Cold, rainy weather. It was the forcast so it was taken in stride. Lynn is having the time of her life with her new power washer (Mothers Day present from the puppies). Are those puppies considerate or what! Me, why I am snug inside writing the journal! Taxi for the Triple Crown Belmont.More drinking...and laughing! Ended up at the Purple Parrot singing. and dancing into the night, glad everyone came out! What did I sing.....guess! LOL!
Sunday: 8:00 Run Walk 5k in Dewey. Only confirmed runner was TK. The rest of us are confirmed hang-overs! Maybe we will make the next one. IF we stay away from the margaritas! Weather just didn't want to cooperate, not a beach day! :( Of course Monday was beautiful, at work.....!
